Karate Costs. Each session has a hall fee of £2.50. This is paid on the night. If a student wants to take part in a competition or grading they must have a license. This costs £15 and is valid for one year. Most students take out their first license just before a grading or competition. You also need a uniform or gi to take part in competitions or gradings. These cost £20 from the club. If you have an existing gi from somewhere else then that can be used instead. Students often buy some protective grear like hand pads and leg pads. They cost £15 a pair. Again there is no need to purchase these, its just better if the students have them. Gradings cost £15 and are held every three months. If a student is training consistently then they are likely to be eligible for two gradings a year. There is never any pressure to sit a grading. We host competitions every 3-4 months. Typical cost for entry for this would be £5.
